The F-1 Visa is available for those individuals coming to engage in academic study in a full time program at an approved institution. F-1 status is unavailable to students wishing to attend public schools, unless the period of stay does not exceed one (1) year and the student reimburses the school.

Students may obtain work authorization for up to one (1) year for the purpose of gaining practical training. Spouses and children, F-2 visas, may not obtain work authorization. Graduating students may convert to H-1B specialty occupation visas if they receive an offer of employment in the U.S.
